Hotel Brotnjo is located in Citluk, a town in southern Bosnia and Herzegovina, approximately 3 kilometers from Medjugorje’s sanctuary. Since its opening in 1976, the hotel’s modern design and rich offering attracted many visitors. Over the years, it has become a recognizable and one of the most favored destinations of the Brotnjo region, famous for wine production. This region is the home to a number of renowned winemakers in Herzegovina. Wines originating from this region can be often found at the best restaurants around Europe. Hotel Brotnjo is the favorite gathering place for young and old, as well as Citluk’s elite. Over the years, Hotel Brotnjo has become a symbol of Citluk, a popular entertainment site and known for its quaint accommodation. The hotel was open throughout the war of the 1990s. During the war years it was damaged and poorly maintained which prompted its closing in 2001. The reconstruction, expansion and adaptation of the hotel commenced in the fall of 2005. A month after its opening in August of 2007, the IHRA (International Hotel & Restaurant Association) honored Hotel Brotnjo with its membership. The IHRA membership places Hotel Brotnjo among top tier hotels.
